Author and poet Evelyn (Perkins) Ames was born in 1908, the daughter of Henry A. and Olga (Flinch) Perkins. A graduate of Milton Academy in Milton, Mass., in 1925, she studied at Vassar College (1926-1929) before marrying Amyas Ames in 1930. They had four children.
